Mirai (Mirai no Mirai) [Sub: Eng]
Here we live a wide range of powerful scenes of a 4-year-old boy struggling to cope with the arrival of a small sister in the family. That boy still lives his life in that family where he tries to be the big guy until things become magical. On the other side, the mysterious garden in the backyard of the boy's house becomes a gate that allows the child to return in time, where the young boy has a wide range of powerful adventures that we live in differently.

A gentle family comedy of manners, which really takes off at the film's final reels. Without being groundbreaking, it still provides a wormhole to look further away than your own courtyard.

The latest gem from Japanese anime master Mamoru Hosoda concerns a little boy's conflict with his baby sister. It may be the animator's smallest film, but it stands tall. You'll be enchanted.

Like Hayao Miyazaki, whose mantle Hosoda is often considered to be on an unofficial short list to pick up, Hosoda tells this child's story at a child's eye level, and the diversions feel part and parcel of that point of view.

An absolute delight from start to finish, Mamoru Hosoda's family fantasy is packed with true-to-life details that keep it grounded.

There's enough wisdom to be found in this engaging tale for a trip to the theatre. Whether to take the whole family is up to parents to decide.

Beautiful [animation] work that stands out on its own, and worthy of an Oscar nomination. When surrounded by everything else, however, it becomes an exception to an otherwise disappointing whole.

An entertaining animated film about a young boy adjusting to a new baby with the help of his ancestors.

Mirai is by no means a perfect film, but it may yet be Hosoda's best to date.

Merits comparison to works of similar relevance and poetic ambitions, like Shoplifters and Roma, masterworks that share its inquiries about familial ties, parental insecurities, and the inescapable pull of the past.

Mirai doesn't really speak for young viewers, just down to them.

This is a movie for patient viewers, but trust that you will be richly rewarded.
